About Jon
Culture creates compliance.
Peace creates performance.
Mission creates margin.
A Calling, Not Just a Career
My entire career has been about serving senior, and it started before I even knew it would.
At fifteen, I began volunteering at a faith-based nursing home in upstate New York where my grandfather served as medical director. I saw what happened when leadership was both mission-driven and compassionate — when every decision was made with the residents’ dignity and the team’s heart in mind.
That experience shaped everything that followed.
After earning my degree in Healthcare Administration, I stepped into my first professional role as an Admissions Director for a Christian nonprofit assisted living community in Virginia. From there, I served as Administrator, Vice President of Operations, and Regional Consultant — always keeping one truth at the center:
Culture, then systems.
Across for-profit and nonprofit settings, from high-end private pay to Auxiliary Grant communities, I’ve seen that the difference between “adequate” and “exceptional” leadership is almost always peace — not pressure.
A Culture-Driven Leader
Over the years, I’ve been trusted to lead teams through growth, change, and the occasional storm.
At Mantle Senior Living, I helped increase occupancy from 68% to 82% in six months and guided the team to a deficiency-free state inspection — not through force, but through shared purpose.
At Mennowood Retirement Community, we created an initiative called Empowered to Serve that strengthened communication, lowered turnover, and built a culture that could weather anything — including COVID-19 — without losing heart.
Those experiences taught me that high performance isn’t born from constant correction; it’s born from clarity, confidence, and care.
Why Abide
I founded Abide Senior Living Consulting to help other owners and operators experience that same balance of peace and performance in their communities.
Abide exists for leaders who want the best for their residents and teams — who believe excellence in operations and compassion in leadership can coexist beautifully.
When we work together, we’ll focus on three things:
Partnership: We walk alongside your team, not above them.
Peace: We bring calm and clarity to complex situations.
Performance: We build systems and culture that sustain both mission and margin.
Whether I’m conducting a compliance audit, mentoring an administrator, or guiding a full management transition, my goal is simple: to help your community become a place where people truly abide — not just work or live.
A Little More About Me
I live in Hampton Roads, Virginia with my wife of 15 years and our four children.
I love teaching, mentoring the next generation of leaders, and bringing peace into every situation — whether it’s a licensing review, a team meeting, or a busy household.
This work isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am.
